'88 Olympic Showcase - NOC YMCA
An essential part of TKD is competition. In TKD, there are two ways to compete: poom-seh (forms) and kyrougi (sparring). TKD and Judo are currently the only two martial arts in the Olympic. Competition helps students get over their fear of competition, but it also lets students use their techniques in a safe environment to see if what they have been practicing actually works in an unpredictable environment. The AMK encourages students to compete in tournaments that are considered safe and put the competitors first. The AMK also requires all Blue Belts and above to learn refereeing. Red Belts and Black Belts have the option to be certified as a referee.
